Hydro Fert’s tomato trial on tomato in collaboration with “L’Informatore Agrario”.
In an agriculture more and more focused on sustainability, quality and efficient use of inputs, biostimulants plays a strategic role to improve the plants physiology, to increase resistance against stress and to optimize yields. Therefore, we have conceived an experimental test on industrial tomatoes, promoted by our Hydro Fert technical team, always focused on R&D, in collaboration with “L’Informatore Agrario”. The trial was carried out in Eboli (Southern Italy), an area with a strong horticultural vocation, aiming to evaluate the effectiveness of a nutritional program based on three of our fertilizers.
The above-mentioned products are Betamin, GoCal, and Activeg.
Betamin is a biostimulant of plant origin based on amino acids, seaweeds and betaines, designed to promote root and vegetative development, to stimulate photosynthesis and to improve the absorption of nutrients. Its betaines content helps plants to overcome abiotic stress, enhancing yields and quality.
GoCal is a liquid fertilizer based on calcium with vegetal extracts, able to prevent diseases caused by deficiencies (such as apical rot), to regulate water balance and to boost the ripening phase.
Activeg is a biostimulant of plant origin obtained from the enzymatic hydrolysis of Fabaceae. It is rich in triacontanol and L-amino acids, stimulating photosynthesis, nitrogen metabolism and biomass production, while also reducing nitrates accumulation.
During the trial some physiological, agronomic and product-related measurements were performed. The results proved a better physiological efficiency in the treated plants, with a higher chlorophyll index and a wider crown diameter, meaning an increased vegetative vigour. In terms of yields, Hydro Fert fertilizers showed the highest values of total production, NAE (Nitrogen Agronomic Efficiency) and FWP (Fruit Water Productivity).
