Calcio Base is a fertilizer based on calcium, playing a fundamental role in neutralizing organic acids; it also takes part in cell metabolism, by regulating the colloidal constitution of protoplasm, acting in contrast with potassium on the processes regulating transpiration and water balance. Calcio Base is fundamental for cell division; it enters as a constituent of maltase enzyme, besides being essential for the meristems development and it is thus required by plants in high quantities during pollen formation. Its deficiency can cause a delay in the development of the young leaves that then appear misshapen and chlorotic, necrotizing on the margins.
