Siliko is a formulation containing potassium silicate directly assimilable by plants. This product increases the mechanical resistance of fruits cell walls, reducing the transpiration and the water loss under water stress conditions. Siliko acts as a physical barrier, by increasing the resistance against biotic and abiotic stress. It also reduces the absorption of sodium and chlorine ions in plants under salinity stress and it decreases the toxicity of heavy metals (aluminium, boron, cadmium, chromium, copper and zinc). The silicon in Siliko activates the genes involved in the photosynthetic and water transpiration processes, both reducing fruit cracking and increasing the shelf life of fruits and their dry matter.
